Planning a wedding can be a lot of fun. Some say the planning is just as much fun as the day itself. Choosing dresses, suits and tasting wedding cakes is really the ultimate shopping trip.
There are lots of things to consider when organising your wedding. Perhaps the most important tip I can share with you is to choose suppliers you can trust.
After all, the last thing you want is something going wrong on the big day! It’s always tempting to choose the lowest price quote as weddings are so expensive these days. Sure, there are some things you definitely can skimp on. But when a service is paramount to the success of your day, don’t skimp on the quality.
It’s particularly important you don’t overlook the importance of your wedding car supplier – wedding transport plays a vital role on the day and you can’t leave anything to chance.
With so many companies offering wedding cars and limo’s for Perth weddings, it can be hard to know what to look for. Here’s a list of the key things to look out for when choosing your supplier.
Reputation is critical
Choose a business that has a great reputation and lots of experience. That way you can be assured that they have already provided excellent service to others.
You can get information about a suppliers reputation through word of mouth recommendations, facebook reviews and online wedding forums. You can’t always trust the suppliers own website testimonials, as they can write what they like. Not only that, they will not share the negative reviews anyways.
Also, take a look at the suppliers website for a blog. Do they write about their weddings and share useful articles like a professional would. View their photo galleries, get a feeling for how many weddings they are involved in and what they offer.
Not only will your wedding car supplier organise your transport, they will also be required to communicate the running sheet, and provide an experienced chauffeur who will stick to a strict time schedule. For this reason, you want to make sure they offer a high level of service and professionalism.
Get an idea of their level of service by seeing how quickly they respond to your enquiry, and how professional they are in their communication. A professional wedding car estimate will be in writing, and 3-5 pages long. If you need to continually chase them up to get information, it might be time to reconsider.
Compare apples with apples
Weddings are an expensive business and you want to try and get the best value for money. Get at least three quotes for the same date and hire duration. Make sure each quote is clear on exactly what you’re getting so you can compare ‘apples with apples’.
Make sure you’re comparing similar vehicles and services. A stretch limo has an unlimited life in WA, so it makes sense to ask it’s age. For example, Hummer stopped production in 2010, so you know they’re older than 5 year now. Stretch Chrysler’s can be over 10 years old. Some have extra ‘jet’ doors and cool features, some don’t.
Some estimates will include your departure, some don’t. Some include ribbons, beverage service and red carpet, and then some don’t. If you’re not sure what’s included, ask for clarification.
Experienced drivers with a personality
How good are their drivers? Do they just drive from A to B, and then spend the rest of the their time waiting in the carpark, or do they help with other useful things? Things like carrying your eskies, pouring drinks, rolling out the red carpet, ensuring there is great music playing, literally helping with anything that you need.
Not all chauffeurs offer the same service and attention to ensure the bridal party enjoy their day. The best drivers will immediately feel like a good friend and become a defacto part of your bridal party.
Don’t underestimate the importance of an experienced wedding chauffeur. A part-time operator (who’s driving someone else’s car) won’t be as invested, so they won’t do a great job. An experienced operator will always cover the wheels of the car with a dress protector before the bride enters or exits. Otherwise the tyre gloss (wheel dressing applied during detailing) will absolutely ruin your expensive wedding gown.
Cover all the bases
There is a myth that you need to book a stretch limo for a wedding to accommodate the whole bridal party. This is so not true. From a practicality perspective, it makes sense to book at least two cars, one to collect the boys and another for the girls. If you blow your budget on one limo, then half the bridal party misses out.
And don’t forget about the get-away after the reception. You will need a comfortable sedan to get you to your hotel. Typically a stretch limo is overly expensive for the ‘get-away’, and it often feels ‘empty’ with just two passengers.
Sometimes the best wedding car solution is 2-3 matching sedans or luxury SUV’s. They can cover all the bases and it usually costs less than a stretch. If your budget allows, get both! The best suppliers will be able to arrange all the cars you need, to suit your timetable and personal requirements.
