Traditional Christian Vows

Groom

I, _____, take you, ______, to be my lawful wedded wife. With the deepest of joy I receive you into my life so that we may be as one. As Christ is to His body, the church, so I will be to you - a loving and faithful husband. I will be the head of our household even as Christ governs me, knowing that the Lord the holiest desire of my life. I promise you my deepest love, my fullest devotion, my most tender care. I will live first unto God rather than others or even you. I promise that I will lead our lives into a life of faith and hope in Christ Jesus. I will honor God and heed his guidance by his spirit and his word. No matter what lay ahead of us, I pledge to you my life as a loving and faithful husband.

I, _____, take you, ______, to be my wedded husband. With the deepest joy I embrace a new life with you. As you have pledged to me your life and love, I too happily give you my life. In confidence I submit myself to you as head of our household. As is the church in her relationship to Christ, so I will be to you. I will live first unto our God and then unto you, loving you, obeying you, caring for you and desiring to be worthy of your favour. God has prepared me for you and I will support, help, comfort, and encourage you. Throughout life, come what may, I will stand beside you as your loving and eternally faithful wife.
